Description

A revised model of the pocket-type thickness gauge combining usability and convenience with new functional capabilities.

The thickness gauge is enclosed into a one-piece case with a removable tip having a built-in changeable wearproof dual-crystal transducer with an operating frequency of 7 MHz.

The hot-pluggable built-in transducer can be easily replaced by the user by means of unscrewing the tip and detaching the transducer capsule from the instrument without extra tools.

The instrument has a small size and weight (can be carried in a pocket), simple adjustment, and is easy to use.

The built-in Bluetooth module provides communication and real-time display (online–thickness gauge) of digital measurement results and A-Scans of the signals to the screen of a smartphone or a tablet PC.

A dedicated software application allows viewing the digital measurement results and A-Scans of the signals for iOS & Android devices.

There is Automatic calibration of delay time (zero) of the built-in transducer.

Applications

The inspection task involves detecting hidden corrosion in metallic structures such as pipes and light poles, particularly in areas that are difficult to access, like under pipe supports. Using guided wave ultrasonics with dry-point-contact transducers, the system scans the full 360° circumference of the structure.

During the inspection, the device collects multichannel ultrasonic data in different measurement positions and generates B-scan images by means of Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique (SAFT) method, allowing operators to identify and assess the location and severity of corrosion without removing the structure or interrupting operation.
